Nice continuation from part I. The percussive work is pleasant, it feels dynamic and I like the combination of strings and brass. I like the sounds at 1:09!

DiePflanze responds:

Thanks :)

Nice work :) Very thoughtful piano in the beginning, when the piano begins arpeggiating with the viola on top, it it almost feels as though the piece becomes cold and icy. I love the viola and cello they sound lovely, very elegant and emotive. I like the overall structure too, really good music!

DiePflanze responds:

Thank you! Glad you like it :) I have put a lot of energy into programming the Viola, I'm glad it payed off!

Really nice. The opening gives a nostalgic feeling. The melody is sweet. I was expecting it to repeat at 2:04 but was pleasantly surprised that there was variation :) My only criticism is that when the piece is at its busiest (beginning 01:27) the drum feels panned too much to the left which is distracting. But it is really pleasant overall, good luck :)

Chemiqals responds:

Thank you so much! One of my goals with this song was to push myself to not be super repetitive. I think that's been one of my biggest weaknesses in the past. I really wanted it to feel like a dynamic song with peaks and valleys. Not gonna lie... I smiled pretty wide when I read that you expected the melody to repeat itself but got pleasantly surprised when it didn't. Because it probably would have if I made this song a few months ago! =P

I was really impressed when I listened to this. It sounds very authentic. Some parts remind me of 12-tonal music, it doesn't have predictable melodies which frankly excites me, haha. The brass is also very menacing. 5 stars from me! Good luck :)

Thanks!

Nice! I think you captured the essence of summer etc very well. This would fit superbly in an adventure game. The quality is great, and the piece is constantly adding new elements which is nice and keeps it interesting. I think that the piece would work as a background piece whilst the character explores. My only complaint really is that I wish there could have been more sections in it, to be a little less repetitive - but maybe thats just personal taste. Overall though its great, good luck :)

DuttonsaysHi responds:

Hey thank you! I'm glad you feel I accurately portrayed the vibe I was going for :]. I was actually going to name the song "hunt for the giant crab" and have it be all about exploring, so I'm glad you picked up on that :D

Yeah as you said, I tried to add different elements throughout to keep it interesting all to avoid repetition. I guess there's some consistency within instrumentation and some recurring themes that shunts it a little. Still, thanks for the review!

I really like the synth sounds in here, the synth bass you've got going is great. Also I enjoyed subtleties such as the bend at 1:43 or so on the lead synth. My only criticism is I wish there had been a bit more variation in the music beyond the break in the middle! Overall the piece is great though, good job and good luck :)

Mawnz responds:

Thanks for you thoughts! I tend to get stuck with the same patterns when I'm kinda forcing the completion of a song so I agree with you on that end :)

Good luck to you too! Thanks again, appreciated!

Beautiful! It really carries emotion all the way through it, I am really impressed. I think if anything this music produces a lot of colour, almost romance I think - especially as the strings kick in at around 30 seconds. Well done! :)

SilverPoyozo responds:

I'm very happy you think so, I was trying my darndest to get something very expressive and colorful out.

Just those few opening notes really set the mood for the piece. The piece is quite peaceful almost to listen to, and yet it feels like its hinged on an element of tension - I must say I like that! Really good music! I wish you good luck in the competition :D

TheBenjerman responds:

Thank you, good sir! Good luck to you as well! ^_^

I really really enjoyed the build up at the beginning as it leads towards the piano, very emotive and it just sounds so 'layered'. The progression and pace of the piece is just right too. The music is great and I really enjoyed listening to it :) Good look in the competition!

Phonometrologist responds:

That means a lot man. Thank you.
Here's a secret in regards to the build up...just in case one isn't aware of the technique: it's really the same piano that is heard in the piece but reversed and time stretched. ;-)

I am a composer of a variety of styles. I am interested in composing music for short films and video games so please contact me if you're interested at interruptedchaos@gmail.com or by pm, if you wish to collaborate :)
